Nosferatu

I don’t think this is my favorite perfume, but it is growing on me. When I first spray it, it’s almost overwhelming. I get rotting flowers at first. I always spray my sample on the description card I get with it, and with this one, I immediately threw it in the trash and my husband and I were both grossed out. He said it smelled like old lady. I said it smelled like rotting flowers. We left to go out for dinner and when I came back, I could smell a nice floral smell and realized it was the trash can lol! The scent settled into a unique floral scent. To me, after settling it’s still a little too much, but I think it captures Nosferatu perfectly. It feels like stumbling across an old dusty trunk in a creaky attic of a Victorian house and finding pressed flowers among various clothing and old letters. It’s certainly a vibe. Edit: this perfume definitely grew on me and is becoming one of my favorites.

Maybe it’s just a chemistry thing but this definitely didn’t do it for me. The initial spray is great and then letting it sit on my skin a while I really didn’t like it.

It brings me to the scene in Nosferatu where Thomas was lost in the woods. I immediately smelled the grassy aroma followed by petrichor and a lingering floral scent. It’s give the essence of Mother Nature in her most pure form. You think it’s light but it lingers extremely long. Don’t spray too much.

I’m not gonna lie, my expectations were low. I normally don’t go for floral hints but this blew me away. It is my absolute favorite. The petrichor especially is the highlight. Pure perfection.

Let me start by telling you how I found Nosferatu. I purchased the “Season of the Witch” sample box directly from Heretic. When I opened the box, it smelled absolutely heavenly! I thought it was one of my samples but nope! There was a sample card with Nosferatu sprayed on it and I immediately fell in love with the smell. It was powerful and intoxicating so I rushed over to Scentbird to see if they had a sample of Nosferatu as it was sold out on Heretics website. After a decent wait, my sample arrived today! I was so excited to finally have Nosferatu in my collection. I sprayed it on the inside of my wrist and was immediately greeted with a mossy, powdery, moldy smell. Not at all what the card smelled like from Heretic. I’m super disappointed, it’s like it’s not even the same perfume! I think I’ll order some from Heretic if they have it and compare the two because this sample from Scentbird is gross.
