Tonka beans are tiny, shriveled, black seeds from the Tonka tree found in Central and South America. Their slightly sweet, vanillic, and smoky hay scent adds a spicy, gourmand edge to a fragrance. Tonka beans work best in spicy and sweet scents featuring similar notes: clove, vanilla, heliotrope, bitter almonds, labdanum, cinnamon, etc. Their vanilla and hay-like scent is ideal for fall or winter, but usually blends well enough to wear any time you need a little sweet, warm spice to liven up the citrus or wood notes in a fragrance.

Confused
I thought this would be creamy and woody based on the description and I like it when first sprayed. However, after 10 minutes on my skin, all I can smell is an aldehyde-like generic scent. It’s probably a skin chemistry thing. I am glad that others do not seem to have this experience.

Overpowering peppery smell
This had such an overpowering peppery smell that lasted forever. I really wanted to love this one. With its description of milk and tonka bean notes, I pictured something very comforting. For whatever reason, neither of those came through at all, neither initially nor during dry-down. Just one use and I'll be passing the rest on if I can find a friend who likes it. Maybe it just reacted differently on my skin than all those who have given it great reviews.

Milky and musky
I really like this one. I feel that it did smell a lot like it’s description. I totally get that this one couldn’t be for everyone, but it smells nice and marshmallowy on my skin. Medium lasting power.
