Tonka beans are tiny, shriveled, black seeds from the Tonka tree found in Central and South America. Their slightly sweet, vanillic, and smoky hay scent adds a spicy, gourmand edge to a fragrance. Tonka beans work best in spicy and sweet scents featuring similar notes: clove, vanilla, heliotrope, bitter almonds, labdanum, cinnamon, etc. Their vanilla and hay-like scent is ideal for fall or winter, but usually blends well enough to wear any time you need a little sweet, warm spice to liven up the citrus or wood notes in a fragrance.

    This has just the right amount of vanilla and sweet warm scent. I forget the other notes, but they melt so well together. I love using this perfume as a layer with a few of my others I own too. This one is on my to buy list!!

    The vanilla is luxurious and blends with the sandalwood, amber and benzoin to create a warm sweet scent that doesn’t overpower with sweetness or projection. The wonderful first note just blends seamlessly with everything else so that you do not have any harsh scents and the first breath is as wonderful as the last.
