Double Cleansing – The Skincare Method Praised by Dermatologists and Experts

From breakthrough formulas to the innovative 12-step routine, not forgetting the ah-mazing snail mucus creams, K-beauty is all about achieving flawless skin. So when they tell us that the road to healthy, glowing skin begins with double cleansing, we all listen to that skincare gospel.

But, what the heck is double cleansing?

Double facial cleansing method involves two steps, which remove makeup, sebum, pollutants that stick on the skin surface, bacteria and sweat much more thoroughly compared to the classic facial cleansing. It removes the stubborn layer of dirt after a whole day, which remains on the skin even after washing. The classic “double-cleanse” method has the following steps:

  • oil or balm cleanser – which dissolves makeup, breaks down SPF cream and sebum on the skin surface
  • water-based product – a gel or foam that deeply removes impurities from the pores and the remains of what the first step melted.

How to “double cleanse” your face?

In the first step, it is important to rub the cleansing oil or balm in a circular motion, so that all traces of make-up and impurities start to melt. This is best done with your fingers, without using cotton pads, since the heat of the fingers will melt the oil into the skin even better.

Once you have removed the surface impurities, it is time for step two: rub the foam or washing gel for at least a minute, in order to thoroughly remove the remnants of make-up, toxins, pollution and impurities from the pores. On average, women spend only 20 seconds cleaning their face, which is not enough for a cleaner to remove all the dirt, especially when you wear SPF cream and full-face makeup.
