Versace’s Versense is a bright and slightly aromatic floral that starts out with green citrus spiked with an earthy, dusty fig accord. Green mandarin and bergamot zest sharpen up your senses for a floral heart of jasmine and lily, which are also spiked by cardamom and cedar notes.
The floral notes in this scent aren’t as creamy or full as in other perfumes with jasmine in the heart – the main attraction in Versense is from other textures like citrus rinds, hot spice, or sour, woody dryness. All of the notes subtly conspire to keep you awake and alert, rather than drop you into a dreamy, gauzy garden bursting with white flowers.
Yet Versense still is a floral perfume – just one with some sharper edges than you’d expect.
The drydown continues this trend of green, aromatic qualities with the addition of olive wood to the traditional musk and sandalwood base notes.
Versace’s Versense can easily be worn by either sex, and will be at its citrusy best in the warmer weather months. It has moderate sillage, and can be re-applied as much as you like without overdoing it. This is a perfume that will lightly energize you on long tours if you’re on vacation, or maybe just pretending you are for a weekend beach adventure before Monday comes around again.
