An Intriguing Scent
I want to preface with this: I think a lot of the negative reviews are coming from people who judge this perfume in the first 10 minutes of wearing. When it dries down and interacts with your body chemistry in COMPLETELY changes!
Onto my review-
I was really excited to try this one based on its' notes. I love spicy, sweet incense inspired fragrances.
I have to say, this truly is a unique and beautiful. To me, it is the epitome of a unisex scent. I was worried it would lean too masculine, but it absolutely does not. I think it is perfectly suited for both women and men.
I will say, at first spray and for the 15 minutes that follow- I do not enjoy it. It's very strong and off-putting. But it dries down into such a masterpiece. Which is why I am still giving it five stars. What it takes away it gives back tenfold. The staying power isn't great either, but like I said- when it's there, it's so good that I'm okay with a quick fade. I've never smelled anything like it before.
The Akigalawood reminds me of driving through the redwoods in the Northern California coast. It invokes an almost nostalgia of a gorgeous, magical wet and shady forest. Like the Oregon coast. I can almost see the butterflies dancing in the sharp rays of light peeking through the tree tops. But again, it achieves this without smelling too manly. I think this is where the Iris, Neroli, and Vanilla help out. They soften and sweeten the sharpness of the wood notes and tie up the fragrance with a gorgeous bow.
I'm really into it. I get excited to put it on. I understand why this may not be for everyone but if you like unique, spicy and sweet unisex scents I absolutely recommend giving this one a try.
