Yikes, I was surprised by how much I immediately hated this after reading such glowing reviews here and elsewhere. I wasn’t previously familiar with akigalawood and had to look it up. It’s fractioned patchouli which kind of makes sense based on what I smelled, but honestly this smelled like straight up gerbil shavings or cat litter to me. I was really turned off by it and it’s SUPER strong and long lasting. I could still detect it about 17 hours later. The dry down was the only part that was ok for me when the iris notes developed. I’m going to try it on my husband because he said he didn’t mind the smell. There was nothing remotely feminine about this to me.
This one was a huge disappointment. It's not that it just smells like a grandma scent; it smells like what grandma would've worn in the 80s. Reeks of camphor that doesn't ever fade after the dry down. It overpowers every other note. Don't trust the reviews on the brand website.
I dig it
i'm not big on the girly scents and this baby was right up my alley. most notably, my mom's boyfriend had some feelings about it, it's my mom's boyfriend so im never gonna wear this around him again lol. ps for what it's worth my mom is not an old lady
I wanted unusual but not like this
I have been curious about Etat Libre D’Orange for a while and I wanted to love this fragrance. The first spritz smelled overwhelmingly of citronella or camphor. As it warmed up, it becomes much more complex and pleasant, but remains a bit more astringent than I’d like. I am 25 and I think this fragrance is a bit too “mature” for me, but it has a certain charm and sophistication. It is intriguing and unusual, which is what I wanted from Etat Libre D’Orange, but this fragrance is sadly not for me.
Very mature and spicy smelling
Would not recommend unless you try a small cheap vial elsewhere first, you may be disappointed
didn’t like it
This perfume smells exactly like the description. At first it’s very strong, but it transitions to a nice fall scent after becoming used to it. It’s a nice once in a while scent.
Just my style. Warm but clean and very long lasting. You don’t need much. I love this brand and have had other of their scents. High quality. Perfect for fall and winter. Cozy and sexy.❤️
The notes to me were not feminine. Didn’t smell good
I barely smell anything
I dont pick up on any particular notes.
Opens up beautifully
The notes in this scent were warm, spicy, with just a hint of orange. I love it, it opens up beautifully! I get compliments whenever I wear it❣️
Scent is great
I love the woody notes, really develops nicely after hours on the skin!
When on my skin all I can pick up on are the peppery notes & it's very unpleasant.
too masculine for me
Gave it to my boyfriend. Very nice scent on him.
Loved the earthy scent. Great scent, wish it lasted longer!
I loved the smell but
the scent like disappeared completely within 30 minutes. which is really sad because I loved the fragrance.
This was a unique fragrance. Although not my favorite scent, it was not off-putting. A little too peppery for my taste. It's interesting that I never use black pepper on food and that's the one thing that I don't like about this perfume.
neroli - vanilla apparent only upon first application, not very strong
off scent like a petroleum product upon first use, nice dry down, but does not last
I gave this to my brother because it was too masculine. Unisex should be more neutral but I don’t really think this was.
Would buy again!
What I liked most about this was that it was strong ,& its just one of those type perfumes when you can smell on someone when they walk bye....
Had to put another perfume over it to try and mask the smell
Wasn’t really happy this scent . Won’t order again
Not what I was looking for
While I’m sure lots of people would love this one, it just isn’t for me. Too overpowering.
Smells great !!
Love this scent. When first sprayed its strong but soon smells of orange notes I believe!! Love it
Gross! Old lady style.
Not for me
very masculine and over powering. never faded to fragrance that I would want to wear.
Woodsy and Mysterious
It definitely fits into the category of woodsy and mysterious. It is a little intense as well, but the scent truly did not last 15 minutes on me. The first time I used it, I was so excited and intrigued. It did smell a bit masculine at first which I don't mind, but that quickly faded and unveiled a nice feminine, amber-y side of the fragrance. However, like I said before, it didn't last at all. None of the perfumes I have been getting from Scentbird are long lasting. Needless to say, I don't ever receive comments on my scents because they are gone before anyone can smell them.
It’s not that it isn’t appealing to some, but too spicy smelling to my preferences.
Masculine and spicy
I am not one to shy away from woody, semi-masculine scents. I like to wear a range of styles - this one is probably as masculine as I can go. While it does have a cologne vibe, I find it somewhat addictive and intoxicating. My partner and friends have all complimented me for the scent. Smells much stronger and more masculine in the bottle than when it wears on.
smells like grape candy :(
The drydown is OK - a woody/powdery smell - but when I first put it on it was overpoweringly sweet and smelled like artificial candy
Smelled like my grandma was so overpowering
I did not like the scent
Reminded me of aromatics elixir by Clinique. A little too strong for my liking.
I was really looking forward to the arrival of this perfume, especially after it was rated so high by several fashion magazines I read. It is so overpowering with it's strange orange undertone. I won't wear it because it doesn't fit my sense of style and gave me a headace!
Etat liebre dorange
Perfectly spiced. I wear it even when I don’t go anywhere
not a fan
wish i could return it, along with the calvin klein euporia i got today. both smelled like a retirement home
I wanted to like it
I really wanted to like this, however the reality did not live up to the expectation. Sadly, the top notes came off overwhelmingly camphor to me and reminded me strongly of Vicks rub. The dry down did improve a bit and a slight floral note did come out after about 20 minutes. It was far too medicinal for me to find truly pleasant.
just not my style
My new every day perfume
I'm totally gonna buy a the full size.
I’ve never been a big fan of certain peppery scents, and this one seemed to hit just that note that I don’t love. Very strong though, so if you like the scent, I recommend it for a long day :)
This is one of those holy grail scents that evokes precious memories, heightens senses, emotionally relaxes and stimulates the mind in a positive way. It opens with a strong plume of Dragon Blood and Nag Champa insence that settles slowly into juicy orange, sweet exotic floral and warm musk. As the very long dry-down settles, spice and heat remain on the skin for hours. I would call this a gender neutral fragrance requiring a bold individual personality to carry off. I'm simply in love with this. My only fear is it appears to be stuck in the case it was shipped in and I may not be able to get it out to replace it with the same scent when this vial is empty!
got here fast , I'm upset because I am paying 10$ extra a month to get what I always get a bag and a new case it even told me what color fierce pink! please lmk what I can do to stay on tht I really like those tubes?
I'm a big fan of ELDO fragrances, but this perfume feels like it should have been given room to mature. There are really interesting elements here, but they are overwhelmed by a milky sweet dampness that would reasonably drive good people to open a window when they smell it. I really want to like it, but also wanted to stop catching whiffs of it on my skin as the day went on.
Not a personal fan
Very strong, to masculine for me
One of my faves
Sexy , unique, if you like neroli it’s a yes
spicy and woodsy
very heavy and overpowering. not fresh light and airy at all.
Moldy potting soil
Horrendous. It smells just like years- old dried-out potting soil with a hint of “I do nothing but smoke weed all day and I reek of it” finish.
Akagalawood Goes On and On and On :)
I sprayed this on my skin in 100 degree heat. The opening was somewhat complex with other notes such as the floral and vanilla, however, the Akagalawood had staying power with no signs of letting me down for at last 7 hours. I woke up and I could still smell it slightly the next day. My determining pulse point for all fragrances is between my breasts which retains perfume scents for hours longer than any other place which ensures I am enjoying my Scentbird fragrances all day long.
Made for a man
This cologne is definitely for a man. It smells great on my husband but a lot of women say it smells like their dad or grandpa.
My new favorite.
Really strong and lingering. Gave me a headache
Not what I like.
I absolutely love this smell, it is completely different from anything I have ever worn! I would definitely recommend it and I love how it smells on my clothes!!
Strong at first
Wore down to a nice background and lasted all day. It's an intense scent more of something I would wear in the cooler days not in high humidity! I'm saving it for the fall.
Etat Libre d Orenge
I like it lots, so far everything I get is perfect, I have a friend who is a bit sensitive so other than that all is perfect
Etat Libre d’Orange Une Amourette
I love unique, niche fragrances too, and this one did not disappoint, lasts crazy-long time, Spicy, but sweet at the same time, if you want a unique fragrance that does not smell like everything else, try this!!!
Not for me
Not something I would ever wear. Too musky
This scent is amazing! It starts out and finishes as described. The woodsy notes are perfect for my smell profile.
Not your average scent
This was refreshingly different slightly masculine slightly feminine not too overpowering I really enjoy this fragrance, especially after it dries down.
Not for me
It smelled like a mans cologne. Reminded me of patchouli.
Unusual in a good chemical type way
Love it! So interesting! Love the chemical smell:) fascinating
Please note I DID NOT like the scent at all too strong and smelled horrible.
I absolutely loved it!! It was exactly what i love in a scent. Not overpowering, not sweet. I love woodsy smells and this fit the bill!!
It smelled more like a men body wash with a hint of Bod body spray, ended up with a headache.
It is very spicy and smells like i was wearing a pot of food
I haven't received this fragrance. Wanted it but was sent 2 D G
Long lasting! Get soooo many compliments. Favorite fragrance for past year!
It was jus as I thought l ove y'all scents when will I get a free one
Was hopeful for this one but ended up being disappointed. Just not my preference
Way too earthy
I opened the top on thia tube and the smell that hit me was earthy in all the wrong ways. The musk smell was overpowering and what might have been a woodsy peppery smell was an assault. It may tone down after being applied but I wasn't willing to live with it until it did. If it did. I'm sure someone out there would fall in love with this. It just isn't me
Love the scent!
Very masculine scent. It starts off oddly bitter and dries to a classic male cologne scent. Reminds me of my grandfather, which I like! But not a scent I'd wear.
This had a nice, lasting scent, however it reacted badly with my body chemistry. Once I applied it, it gave a horrible chemical odor.
Too intense I gave it to my husband.
25 to 34
This is terrible. I don’t mean this in any disrespectful way but it smells like something my grandma would wear. Instant headache. I can’t believe this was so highly rated.
the scent was too strong for my liking. It gave me a headache. I was expecting a light scent of orange but the woody smells were too strong. It smelled too old for my liking
This is probably my favourite scent so far. The fragmented patchouli essence reminds me of Nag Champa but less dusty. It's the sort of fragrance that, when I catch a note of it on myself, it's always a pleasant surprise.
Way too sweet for me.
My favorite niche fragrance from Etat. It's spicy and sexy, yet so smooth. It's projection isn't too far, but it lasts 8+ hours. Liked it enough to purchase a full bottle.
Strong overpowering wood smell
A little musky for me.
Dont like the smell!!
very sexy scent!
I am so confused ...
Upon first spray, this literally smells like an old hippie. It is woody, earthy and downright dirty. But then, once it’s on the skin, it changes into something else. Sensual. Intriguing. Not quite old hippie or old lady but I’m not sure I could wear it in public without people asking who forgot to take a shower. I will say this... Allure rated it as a top choice for a reason. This is a very complex scent but I think I could wear it for an appropriate occasion. The jury is still out. Definitely not the same in the bottle as on the skin, but definitely for a more daring personality that’s not afraid to wear something outside the box.
Not on me
Multidimensional smell. Just didn’t work on me. After about 30 minutes I could only smell incense.
It smells horrible it's too strong. It kinda smells like cologne....it reminds me of a perfume from the 90s
45 to 54
I didn’t care for this Scent.
The scent was just too strong.
Not what I expected
This is probably not for everyone, you have to have a particular nose for this. This scent is not my taste at all. This reminds me of what I think a hippie would smell like. Ancient (lol) and like incense. The dry down is a tiny bit nicer and not as strong, but I still don’t like this scent. I thought the vanilla and iris would sweeten it up a bit but not at all. This is not a sexy scent, to me at least, but in general anyways.
smelled very spicy pretty much uni sex like. I loved it.
Not a great smell for me
If you're a fan of LUSH Karma, you are sure to love this. It smells interesting. I would probably wear it if heavy patchouli wasn't migraine inducing for me.
love the smell of wood. Last long. Just perfect for me, not for everybody though
smells like an older lady
Very unique fragrance -- a little too "out there" for me. Had a cloying scent about it that I felt I couldn't escape from. Kind of heavy and dark.
smells like grandma
one of the worst smells I ever have ever smelled........
Woody, slightly floral
I love this! I am a spicy/Woody/musky scent kind of girl—this one is right on. Just a hint of floral.
Not my type
Didn’t care for the smell
this was very disappointing as all I smell is the wood smell. it's like wearing a campfire.
Way too floral. Smelt almost cheap. Not my kind of scent.
Definitely a Winter Evening scent
Not bad.... just not for me. This is definitely a scent for a Winter evening
I love this scent.
Thought I would give it a try
I am on a ELDO binge at the moment, and after receiving and loving I Am Trash and Remarkable People, I figured I would give this one a shot. Not usually what I go for as far as scent profiles, but this house has a way of blending fragrances in such a way that they tend to grow on you the more you wear them. I REALLY wanted to like this perfume, but from the first spray I knew it was not for me. It’s not absolutely terrible, but I dislike the smell of patchouli, and it was so overpowering in this scent. After the dry down, it just reminded me of something an older woman might wear. I will say that the staying power of this fragrance is remarkable- I showered and could still smell it afterwards. So, that’s a plus, but it stops there. Ended up giving it to a coworker!
Had to wash it off right away
I love unique scents that have substance. No flowery fragrance for me so this one hit the mark. This is a deep earthy scent to me and it’s perfect for fall and winter

considering buying the bottle
A smell that is overwhelming at first, but grows on you. All my guy friends love the scent after it has faded slightly.
35 to 44
Good, but not on a person.
This seriously reminds me of a scratch-and-sniff book I had as a child. I would probably like this as a candle, but it's weird on a person.

An amazing fall fragrance from the house of ELDO. The notes of vanilla and neroli hit your nose almost instantaneously. The akigalawood in the dry down is smells simply amazing. Its almost akin to ELDO's Herman A Mes Cotes in my opinion. I highly recommend.
It smells more like for men. When you first open it it has a strong smell that’s not delightful . But after you spray it on and wait like 10 min it calms down the smell . Sorry not a fan of this one
