Light Blue description
What if I told you that there was a perfect perfume? A perfume that could be worn with any outfit, in any season, that always smells appropriate, and that’s totally upbeat and fun to wear? A scent that would never upset anyone around you, and always get you the right kind of attention, no matter where or when you wore it? Would you believe me?
It’s Light Blue, from Dolce & Gabbana. The fragrance that introduced the entire world to what “fresh” and “clean” perfume is all about.
It starts out with a sheer Granny Smith apple bobbing in a cedar barrel filled with bluebell flowers. Now, granted – that’s an odd image. Until you try it on.
What your nose first notices is a soft and breezy accord that instantly reminds you of an expensive, and pampering spa treatment. Light Blue excites your senses with a buoyant, expressive energy.
The cedar and apple are refreshing and brisk, and the bluebell note makes the opening plush and comfortable, with a luxury hotel towel’s texture. The smooth transition from the top to the middle notes is also what makes Light Blue easy to enjoy. The cedar turns from dry to dewy, and the tart green skin of the apple elongates into a calming bamboo note. A floral combination of white rose and jasmine hums along behind the bamboo, but Light Blue’s strength is in the cedar/bamboo feel. The florals in the heart are mostly for roundness and depth. The dry down offers a subtler and drier cedar wood note to end on, along with a sheer, tangy musk brushed with sweet amber.
The bright pop of the wood notes against the green, glistening bamboo in the heart is the driving force in this perfume all the way through to the end. There are no sudden shifts, or scented mood swings. Light Blue is a confident, laid-back, and approachable scent. It’s does one thing, and well – it smells really, really good.
If you are just starting to get into perfume, this fragrance should be on your “must-try” list. It’s an excellent choice for a first-time wear. It’s also one of the most popular fragrances ever made, so you’ll be wearing a classic scent right from the start.
Is it a perfect perfume, though? Light Blue is a perfect choice for someone who has never worn perfume before. It’s a comfortable, white canvas to start with, and you can finger-paint with other styles later, when you’re ready to explore the farther reaches of the scented world.
