First things first - if you're expecting the exact smell of leather, stop now. It is NOT a true leather smell. That being said, it is an AMAZING scent. This is a smell that is comforting and happy and reminiscent of better times gone by. It's diving for the ball in the outfield, and sliding into home just under the catcher's mitt. It's summer saturdays with the horses and a curry comb. It's that very back corner of the library where they keep the old books...you know...the one that's just a bit darker, the aisles just a bit closer than the rest. It's the dirt and the roots falling past your face as you grope blindly for the next finger hold on that rock face. It's carefree summers in the creek bed making your way to the waterfall. I think if I were to rename this fragrance...I would use something like...aged...maybe natural... That's really what it is. It's old whiskey barrels being re-used to age wine. It's a harkening back to the days when things were well made, built to last a lifetime. I absolutely love this (if you can't tell!) The reason I rated it at only 3 stars is as follows:
1) misleading name
2) staying power is lacking. (I put it on today around 8am, and was questioning whether it was still on by noon. I reapplied, which I never do, around 1600, and it is now 1930 and fading.)
3) gender ambiguity - I am female and I enjoy it on me, but I could just as easily imagine it on a Male.
