Eau de Cartier description
No one captures simplicity and freshness like Cartier. Their perfumes unfold with an airy, gracious sparkle, and wear with an understated sophistication.
So when it comes to light styles of perfume, Cartier is a great place to start. Eau de Cartier does exactly what you want an Eau perfume to do: be light, bright and citrusy, and super-fun to wear.
It starts with watercolor traces of ripe yuzu fruit and bright bergamot. As these two notes develop, what you notice first is tangy dryness humming through a rich, almost plummy sweetness.
Eau de Cartier keeps this tangy vs. sweet/spicy vibe throughout each phase as it dries down. After the top notes fade, a new impression of dry leaves and light florals comes through, along with a sheer musk and a quietly herbal lavender note. The floral facets, musk and lavender blend together in another watercolor brushstroke against the dry, spicy crackle of the leaf accord.
The heart of Eau de Cartier is what makes it such a blast. Many “Eau-style” perfumes aren’t asked to be very nuanced – the thrill is usually the instant artificial summer of the citrus notes. But Eau de Cartier, especially with the forest-floor spice in the leaf accord, can express more emotion than just a Smiley Face blazing on 10,000 mg of Vitamin C. The bright/tangy vs. dry/sweet theme is done subtly enough and with enough texture so you can even wear this in the off season without it losing its charm.
The dry down completes the theme with patchouli and cedar paired up against a light amber accord. The cedar is the stronger of the two, and the amber isn’t thick and sugar-sweet, but diffused lightly through the soft whisper of the base note blend.
Eau de Cartier is quite an original take on a light, off-hand style of warm weather perfume. Both bright and spicy-sweet, it expresses its emotional contrasts through citrus, floral and finally spicy wood notes. It’s like hearing about your bubbly best friend’s amazing summer wedding from her three happy bridesmaids. This is one perfumed bouquet you’ll want to catch for yourself.
