Burberry Brit EDT description
Sweet almond fans, rejoice! Heck, even green almond fans, rejoice! Wearing Burberry Brit is an almond-lovers express trip to yummy nougat heaven.
It starts out with an airy shimmer of frosted lime and pear, and like many Burberry fragrances, the citrus fades out fast to make room for all that delicious, almond-y goodness pouring out of the heart.
Perfumer Fabian Baron saw fit to include two different almond notes in Brit; a green almond in the top and a sugared version in the heart, and both are detectable. A soft, ethereal white peony note slips through the middle phase as well, but it’s there to aerate the gourmand notes and whip them into something light and tasty, rather than letting them coagulate into a thick, almond icing.
The sugared almond starts out as the featured note in the heart. As this perfume expands, so does the sugar until it almost leaves the nuttiness of the almonds behind. Burberry Brit might be one of the sweetest, “death to dentists!” perfumes ever released.
Once the immature green almond tones fade from the top, this fragrance heads straight for the top of Big Rock Candy Mountain, with a view punctuated by lilting, puffy clouds of white peony obscuring the land below. After a few minutes, the peony clouds become more of an overcast floral weather pattern, and the Tooth Fairy scoots over a bit to allow their cooling influence to take over.
By the time the drydown phase begins, Brit has turned from a toothsome, nougat-filled, gooey gourmand into more of a flormand hybrid, with white peonies blooming everywhere, and changing the temperature from fresh bakery pastry warmth to cool, wind-tossed wildflowers.
The base notes are all firmly tucked into the sweeter end of the scent spectrum. Amber, tonka beans and vanilla are all swirled together, until what pops out is a vanilla cream bon-bon topped with a spicy, smoky candy shell. There’s a subtle, dry mahogany note piercing through the candy wrappers that lends the drydown a touch of antique, old-timey candy shop ambience.
But if you’re an almond fan, or love gourmand fragrances that aren’t afraid to flex their floral side, Burberry Brit will keep you reaching into its white peony heart-shaped box until every last yummy mouthful is gone.
