If your idea of fashion is a floppy hat, peasant dress and sandals, and you love to see the world through enormous rose-tinted sunglasses, Burberry Body will be happy to assist you in choosing a fragrance to match your inner Flower Child.
Burberry Body looks back to the days of London’s Carnaby Street and the Swinging 60’s, for a far-out blend of absinthe, peach and green apple to send you off like Alice in Wonderland.
The absinthe note is very strong at the start, and the green apple and peach keep it available on your perfume tray, instead of tucked away in a medicine cabinet. But for all its Green Imp witchery, the opening of Burberry Body is unexpected, heady, and entrancing. It’s not a perfume you feel you should wear on your wrist, but uncork and imbibe on the advice of a travelling alchemist.
The moon-eyed, peace and love vibe continues in the heart with roses, iris and a strong, sweet tea note that pairs nicely with the mentholated absinthe. It’s the spoonful of sugar you need to help the medicine go down. The rose and iris notes are softly placed in the background, to let the herbal tones of both the tea and absinthe to work their alchemy up front.
After an hour or so, Burberry Body builds to a cool, green and astringent impression. It continuously projects an aura of mischief and mystery, as if using it might send you into an altered state. If Alice needed to wear a perfume instead of drinking the shrinking potion, Burberry Brit would have SPRAY ME stenciled in large letters across the front of the bottle.
The drydown steers the scent back into a comforting base of amber, vanilla, and cashmeran for a warm, sweet landing after the absinthe and tea are done with their siren song. Burberry Body is an iconoclastic perfume, that shimmies and shakes with a retro-60’s sorcery – if you don’t believe us, go ask Alice, when she’s ten feet tall.
