Now the fragrances are headed the same way. Founded by Jasmin Larian Hekmat in 2011, Cult Gaia was inspired by ‘objets d’art’, beautiful things that demand a second look. And as her mother’s a sculptor and her father invented the Bratz doll, you could say the obsession with objects runs in the family. The ‘Gaia’ half of the name hints at something earthier: a sense of natural textures and elegant raw materials, a theme that runs through everything the brand creates. Starting first with accessories and then ready-to-wear, in 2024 the brand launched three scents—all now on Scentbird.

Cult Gaia Perfumes

The perfumes, Mast, Noor, and Zan, feel more like they belong in an art gallery than a department store. The notes are bold—woods, incense, resins—but they’re never trying to be the loudest thing in the room, instead connecting to an earthiness that has warmth, depth and gravitas. Sleek citrus and gentle florals cut through, to keep things from getting altogether too heavy or too precious. It’s restrained in the way the best design is restrained: intentional and considered, not boring. There’s a lot of talk online about the bottles, and rightfully so—they look like design objects you’d want on display long after they’re empty of perfume.

Cult Gaia Mast Perfume

Italian bergamot and fresh-cut coconut open bright and almost zingy, before orange blossom smooths things out. Haitian vetiver and cumaru—a rich Brazilian wood—ground it with amber and forest notes that feel more earthy than sweet. The musk that settles in is barely there, just soft enough to notice on skin.

Cult Gaia Noor Perfume

Smoky black pepper from Madagascar leads, sharp and immediate, with rose and lavender trying to soften the edges but never fully succeeding. Vetiver and pine keep it earthy, while incense resins add a meditative, almost brooding quality underneath. This is bold and unfamiliar—the kind of scent that makes people ask what you’re wearing, not because it’s loud, but because it doesn’t smell like anything else.

Cult Gaia Zan Perfume

There’s a brightness to the opening here that is unusual, because it’s not citrus or sweet at all, but instead features a zing of pink pepper, cardamon and brilliant sheer white incense. Underneath ambrette, heady cedarwood, ambroxan, and musk balance the lightness of the opening with a lingering musky warmth.
