Vilhelm Parfumerie’s World in Three Scents

vilhelm perfume edit

The first thing that caught my eye on Vilhelm Parfumerie’s About Us page was this line:

Despite our Swedish name and New York roots, our fragrances are created in Paris, France along with renowned French perfumers Jérôme Épinette, Bertrand Duchaufour, and Marc-Antoine Corticchiato.

And the moment I read it, I thought: I knew it. I knew it. The perfumes have a je ne sais quoi quality.

The first Vilhelm fragrance I ever tried was Poets of Berlin, and I was completely blown away. That sugar- and vanilla-dusted blueberry with a squeeze of lemon was exceptional. Even my husband, who is notoriously hard to impress with fragrance, loved it. And don’t even get me started on Mango Skin. While Vilhelm has a signature look, releasing most of its fragrances in nearly identical bottles, what’s inside is always a different story. Today, we’re diving into three of them: Chimilka, Sun Cities, and Great Lord.

Chimilka

A molten mix of velvet peach, sugar, and dark leather, making for a scent with serious bite.

Chimilka opens sweet and plush, but there’s heat underneath. A crystalline sugar-dusted peach wrapped in worn leather, soft at first, then prominently bold once it warms up and makes itself at home on your skin.

Sun Cities

Wear this blend of fruits and leather, and even Mondays will feel like a day of fun.

Sun Cities feels sun-warmed and carefree, and smells like biting into ripe fruit somewhere coastal, sunglasses on, plans off. Yes, wear this, and it’s Mondays begone!

Great Lord

Good Lord, plum, leather, and saffron never smelled so divine. That’s why it’s called Great Lord.

This one is rich, commanding, and yanking at your nose, demanding attention. Juicy plum meets saffron-spiced leather in a way that makes you feel powerful with very little effort required.

What is the best Vilhelm perfume to try first?
If you’re new to Vilhelm perfume, Poets of Berlin is a great place to start. With its dreamy blueberry-vanilla-lemon combo, it’s a perfect intro to the brand’s gourmand-meets-artistry style.

Is Vilhelm perfume made in Sweden or France?
While the name might sound Swedish, Vilhelm perfume is actually created in Paris, France, in collaboration with master perfumers like Jérôme Épinette. The brand has New York roots but Parisian soul.

How long does Vilhelm perfume last?
Vilhelm perfume is known for its excellent longevity. Scents like Great Lord and Chimilka last all day thanks to their leather, spice, and fruit-forward compositions.

What’s a good Vilhelm perfume if I love fruity scents?
If you’re into fruit-forward fragrances, Sun Cities is a sunshine-in-a-bottle experience. It blends juicy fruit with leather — an unexpected yet addictive combo that makes Vilhelm perfume so unique.
