Posh by Nature: Sophisticated Scents Are Victoria Beckham’s Forte

I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want… Victoria Beckham’s San Ysidro Drive perfume. My birthday’s in a month, so if anyone’s feeling generous, consider this your hint.

All jokes aside, this weekend (fine, Friday night), I binge-watched all three episodes of Victoria Beckham’s Netflix documentary, instantly fell back down the Posh Spice rabbit hole, and let me tell you—she’s amazing. The second the credits rolled, I was already rummaging through my memories, thinking about every Victoria Beckham perfume I’ve ever tried, which, at this point, is basically the full collection.

So, to the people asking, “Who does she think she is?”—she’s Victoria Beckham. One-fifth of the band that made the ‘90s iconic, the definition of girl ambition, and one seriously good perfume boss. Case in point? The Victoria Beckham fragrance line.

In the documentary, Victoria herself said she doesn’t do halfsies or mediocrity—so it’s no surprise that every Victoria Beckham perfume is anything but ordinary. Each scent is memory-led—a moment in time, a snapshot from a different chapter of her life—refined, intentional, and deeply personal. There’s Portofino ’97, a sun-soaked ode to the year she met David; Suite 302, inspired by their Parisian escapes; and San Ysidro Drive, her love letter to Los Angeles, blending cedarwood and vetiver with that trademark Posh sophistication. My favorites? San Ysidro Drive and the newest launch, 21:50 Rêverie—but honestly, each one deserves a spot in your rotation.

Portofino ’97

The year she met David is the beginning of everything. Portofino ’97 takes the Italian coastline, folds all its beauty in two, and squeezes until every drop of sunlight and salt air is captured inside the bottle. Victoria tells the story of infatuation through a euphoric hit of Calabrian bergamot and black pepper; their love printed on crisp white sheets infused with incense and amber; and the lingering warmth of patchouli and vetiver on a significant other’s skin.

Suite 302

For her, it was always Paris. Forget New York, if she could make it there, she could make it anywhere, and that dream lives inside Suite 302. It’s Parisian glamour and dream bottled: nectar-rich black cherries dusted with red peppercorn, the scent of roses saturating the air, midnight violets and soft musks mingling with black leather and tobacco leaf, all speaking the language of pure opulence.  There’s meaning even in the design; the white enamel of Suite 302 mirrors the Roberto Cavalli dress Victoria wore for her surprise vow renewal with David.

Take a bow, Victoria. You did it.

San Ysidro Drive

Her California chapter, in a scent form. After a turbulent personal period in Madrid came a new beginning bathed in West Coast light. When Victoria and her family traded Spain for Los Angeles in 2007, it wasn’t relocation, no, it was a reset. This perfume captures that transformation, the meditative quiet of California mornings, the air heavy with the electric pop of passion fruit and pink peony, drives along the Pacific with the windows down, inhaling ocean air laced with rose absolute, saffron flower, and agarwood, all softening into black amber and vanilla that feel like sunlight on skin. It’s the smell of the peace of finally feeling at home, half the world away.

21:50 Rêverie

When Victoria Beckham and Jérôme Epinette create a vanilla perfume, of course, it won’t be vanilla. It’s tobacco leaves soaked in plum juice, wrapped in vanilla pods. In 2001, before life took another turn, Victoria and David found themselves deep in Java’s rainforest. The island’s air, its smells, its fragrant pulse, everything invited release and reflection. She wanted to preserve that memory not as a frozen image, a Polaroid, but as something alive, something that breathes with her, evolving just as she does. For Victoria, scent became the way to relive that moment, a reminder that catharsis, awakening, isn’t meant to stay in the past but to be felt again and again, fully present.
