Get Moonstruck by These 7 Lunar-Inspired Scents

Inspired by the sudden occurrence of Fleetwood Mac’s “Sisters of the Moon” blasting on the radio and the full moon hanging dangerously low over my hometown skyline, I started thinking, the moon really does have a hold on us.

It pulls tides, stirs moods, ruins sleep, and, according to one of my favorite urban legends, triggers a spike in births every full moon. (Hospitals apparently know the drill, but that’s another part of the folklore, I guess) Basically, the moon is that messy, magnetic friend who shows up unannounced and gets all the attention.

So I went scent-hunting to find fragrances that channel her glow, her chaos, her cool. These seven moon perfumes aren’t just moon-inspired; they will have the biggest pull on your wrists to your nose.

1. Heretic Scarlet Moon

This RMS Beauty and Heretic Parfum collab, named Scarlet Moon opens with juicy blood orange and zesty mandarin, then drifts into something greener and stranger, thanks to violet leaf and Siberian fir. Hinoki wood wraps it all in a warm, witchy haze. It’s bright, earthy, and just weird enough to feel like magic moon perfume.

2. Kilian Moonlight in Heaven

Coconut rice and mango, but make it metaphysical. This one starts with grapefruit and pink pepper, then eases into creamy jasmine and tonka, like floating in gauze under a balcony moon. It’s fresh, romantic, and gives serious “lost in a vacation daydream” energy.

3. Juliette Has a Gun Midnight Oud

The palace doors close. The air shifts, and something very opulent, floral, and a little dangerous fills the space to the brim. With thick clouds of smoky wood and a rose that doesn’t play nice, Midnight Oud wears like velvet on bare skin. Sensual, shadowy, and slightly extra.

4. The Harmonist Moon Glory

Floral, but not fragile moon perfume. This is jasmine at dusk, queen-of-the-night blooming wild, and lychee dripping in honey. It’s plush, warm, and quietly hypnotic, not unlike someone whispering secrets you can’t quite hear but still believe. Pair with moonlit windows and soft rebellion.

5. Floraïku The Moon and I

This is tea ceremony turned scent ritual. Smoky mate, matcha extract, and cedarwood collide to create something grounded but luminous. It’s introspective, rich, and ever-so-slightly mystical, akin to the moon itself writing a poem and scenting the paper with this. Plus, the packaging? Be still my heart, be still.

6. Frédéric Malle The Moon

I know, you thought we were going to leave this one out. No chance. A lunar love letter in rose, oud, and red fruit, The Moon is decadent and deeply romantic, with smoky incense and a surprise hit of blackberry and redcurrant that feels straight out of a midnight hookah lounge. It’s opulent, intoxicating, and totally celestial-core.

7. Sanctuary Moon Bear

This moon perfume saves animals. Literally. Named after the crescent-shaped mark on its chest, the Moon Bear inspires this woodsy, twilight-charged scent, with cedar leaf, cardamom, lavender, and creamy sandalwood coming together like a warm hug in a moonlit forest.
