Death by a Thousand Roses
As with all reviews, YMMV. (Your Mileage May Vary)
Things I (typically) like in fragrance:
Things I (almost always) dislike in fragrance:
For reference, I love both Mugler's Angel and Black Orchid by Tom Ford. I'm also a huge fan of Elixir des Merveilles by Hermès. I even like D&G The One. I've seen all of these referred to as loud. I can't disagree with that assessment.
Dark Purple is not loud. It's deafening.
It is the fragrance equivalent of throwing someone in a room and blasting music at them to get them to give up the name of the leader of their insurgency.
It is a semi truck full of roses crashing into the Rose Parade.
The name works, only because it is the color your forehead would be if you banged your head against a wall, trying to rid yourself entirely of your sense of smell.
It is not nuanced.
It had no development from first spray until dry down. I'm shocked that i had the willpower to make it that far.
It is there, ever present, screeching like a spoiled toddler, unwilling to let you rest. It is the Twelve Days of Christmas sung by Rick Astley to the tune of It's a Small World inside a spinning tilt-a-whirl filled with gas station rose air freshener.
But if you like roses, hey, go for it. Just don't say that no one ever tried to warn you.
