Peace, Love and Juicy Couture description
Peace, Love, and Juicy Couture is a lean, clean, patchouli machine. Patchouli is a “love it or hate it” notes in perfume, so it takes some scent wizardry to dress the note up enough to approach it. But when done well, patchouli is one of the coziest, and complex notes in the scented world.
Bright citrus fruit and soft floral accents weave through a stylish, soft, and herbal patchouli in Juicy Couture’s Peace, Love, and Juicy Couture. The perfume label cleverly name-checks the Summer of Love in a fun way, but this is no wifty, headshop scent.
Peace, Love and Juicy Couture begins with a captivating, upbeat blend of Meyer lemon, apple, hyacinth, and black currant. The Meyer lemon is the stand out note, and the bright acidic smile it brings to the opening accord provides a winsome contrast to the darker herbal tones that arrive later. The apple and blackcurrant notes also guide the tart lemony pucker into a sweeter, spicier zone.
All three of these top notes combined are a joy to smell – if nothing else went on in Peace, Love, Juicy Couture, the opening is worth trying all by itself.
The heart is a teeter-totter with jasmine and magnolia on one side, and honeysuckle, linden, and Malibu poppy on the other. And since it’s a 3-on-2 situation, the lighter, gentler florals have the most to say. The bright green chime of honeysuckle takes over for the puckered lemon note, and the linden’s natural honeyed sweetness is the balance beam between the light and heavy florals.
The light/heavy floral feel is deeply calming and meditative after the top notes fade. Peace, Love, and Juicy Couture would love to sit under a tree and while the day away under a pale sun in hazy comfort. The grassy undertones lull the senses as much as the plush layer of sambac jasmine running beneath the lighter florals.
The wondrous and deep dry down of iris, patchouli, and musk is why Peace, Love, and Juicy Couture works so well as a pseudo-hippy scent. The dry down notes continuously rise around the edges of the fragrance, subtly shading the florals and the quick bite of lemony citrus. They act like a feeling of deja-vu in this perfume. The herbal twinge of patchouli hovers behind the citrus and jasmine, prodding your senses with its odd, exotic influence.
This perfume’s hidden and gentle herbal vision IS peaceful, warm, and soft. Peace, Love, and Juicy Couture is a fantastic introduction to how patchouli works in perfume, for hippies or anyone else. Peace out.
