3 L'Imperatrice Eau de Toilette description
L’Imperatrice 3 from Dolce & Gabbana is another in their line of Tarot card-inspired perfumes from the Anthology collection.
In the Major Arcana of the Tarot, L’Imperatrice translates as the Empress, and she is the third card in that group. The Empress stands for all things maternal: pregnancy, new beginnings, or projects you are worried over that will work out well if you take your time with them. It is a nurturing and protective card.
L’Imperatrice the perfume however, takes the idea of the maternal and abandons it for the young and wild years in a woman’s life. L’Imperatrice is as crazy and delicious as a neon pink beehive of carnival cotton candy.
It starts out with a tart, bratty rhubarb, kiwi and red currant combination, like a scent portrait of a precocious private-school girl done up in glittery, neon lip gloss. The red currant is spiky and rough, perforating the softness of the rhubarb like a railroad spike into a fresh tire. The opening of L’Imperatrice isn’t about to tolerate anyone NOT paying attention to it, and it’s loaded with punky, feminine, imperial teen attitude.
The heart notes are ripe, gushing watermelon with a sliver of pink cyclamen for contrast, and quite a bit of the red currant lingering into the middle of the perfume. The juiciness in the watermelon is tuned to an insane level, with only a puff of sweet powdered cyclamen to dilute itAnd by the time the watermelon note hits, there is absolutely no mistaking this perfume for anything but a riot-grrrl’s in your face fragrance anthem of youthful independence. This perfume, quite honestly, will kick your ass.
The dry down is a subdued, even petulant combination of sandalwood and musk, like the base notes are already over it and done with you. Their sharp, dry tang lingers after the carnival circus citrus in the heart finally leaves town.
L’Imperatrice is a younger woman’s perfume, and one that is ideal for a girl who can amplify its bratty and sweet insolence. It’s a fragrance that’s not afraid to be anything than what it is, and then drop you like a hot rock at the end if you can’t keep up.
It’s by far the wildest child in the Anthology series from Dolce & Gabbana, and worth seeking out for your next Glamazon girl’s night out.
