Fragrance is usually the exception: most people just grab a travel-size perfume on their way out the door and call it a day. But, as we’ll get into later, there’s a lot more to it than that to a vacation packing list.

When I was working at a fashion magazine, an editor of mine shared a little tip that’s stayed with me ever since: when you travel somewhere new, bring only one scent with you. That way, once you’re back home, a few spritzes of that same perfume can transport you right back to that vacation<\/a>. It is a sentimental approach, but an effective one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I put this to the test on a recent trip to Chamonix and Annecy\u2013both in the French Alps, but with completely different scenery. I packed accordingly, inspired by their two moods.
