Scentbird recently had the honor of catching up with Mark Badgley and James Mischka, founders of Badgley Mischka, the iconic American design house that exemplifies timeless glamour. They discussed the passion and the inspiration behind the second fragrance of the line, Badgley Mischka Forest Noir Eau de Parfum, which testifies to the high artisanship of the beloved designer duo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What was your inspiration behind Forest Noir?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inspiration for Forest Noir emerged when developing our FW2019 collection.  There was an emphasis on rich, luxurious textures, jeweled forest tones, and the vintage glamour of post-war sports cars.  The dark, dramatic colors evoked a sense of mystery and enchantment \u2013 in the same way Forest Noir does. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which elements were the most important to incorporate into the scent?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We wanted to make sure the fragrance still felt very glamorous but with a sexy, date night twist. Keeping it in the floral family was also important so it is aligned with our signature scent \u2013 which we still adore. The big, beautiful, white magnolia stole the show in the signature scent, but Forest Noir has a lovely bouquet of florals \u2013 Night Blooming Jasmine, Bulgarian Rose, and Hyacinth.  The citron, patchouli and the green moss notes make it more sensual, so it\u2019s a floral with strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was there a specific type of personality you had in mind when creating this fragrance?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forest Noir is really created for anybody, who wants to feel confident and empowered.  It\u2019s not overtly sexy, but it is very sensual; it\u2019s luxurious and floral, but not super feminine \u2013 it is intended for the woman (and man) that wants to enchant and entice.  Who doesn\u2019t?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you talk about the emerald inspiration for the bottle? What drew you to the emerald in particular?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we began thinking about which jewel should be the inspiration for our next fragrance, the gorgeous, rich emerald was the first to come to mind. We have always loved emeralds in our collections, and we know that it is often referred to as \u201cthe stone of successful love,\u201d and helps to open and nurture the heart while radiating healing, soothing energy.  The \u201csuccessful love\u201d part sealed the deal!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you think Forest Noir complements the Badgley Mischka eponymous scent?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For us, Badgley Mischka is day and Forest Noir is night. We know this perception will evolve as we add more fragrances to the collection, but for now the bottles will rest on your vanity as the perfect pair. Badgley Mischka is a very clean floral that is feminine and beautiful, Forest Noir is a fruity floral that feels sexy and mysterious so it is a perfect harmony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
